Tadaaki Chiba was born in Bunkyo Ward in Tokyo on March 18,
1942, Due to the evacuation of children from World War II he
moved into Nakanoshima (Uonuna City) in Niigata where his
grandfather lived.
Since that time mountains have had a strong impact on him, He
was initiated into painting by his grandfather Soho Imai (an artist
of Japanese-style painting who was connected with The Imperial
Household)and by his grandmother who was a graduate from Joshibi
University of Art and Design. After he came back to Tokyo, he
became an artist of fusuma (Japanese sliding door) paintings.
After that, he entered the business world, but he has continued to
be active as an artist of mountain paintings. His motto is be
emotional, be thankful, make strenuous efforts, be interested, be
active and take the initiative. He likes to stay in contact with
members of his art circle, He is a real artist who deeply
appreciates mountains and has dedicated his life to painting them.
