1942（昭和17）年３月18日生まれ、東京都文京区出身。終戦前後の学童疎開で祖父の故郷、新潟県中之島（現在の魚沼市）に移り住む。

小学校の頃より山に衝撃を受ける。当時から祖父（皇室ゆかりの日本画家）今井爽邦と女子美大卒の母の二人から絵の手ほどきを受ける。東京に戻り襖絵師となる。実業界に転じて、全国各地を巡りさらに山々に魅了され山岳画家として活躍、現在に至る。

”感動、感謝、奮闘、興味そして起動、行動”をモットーに芸術家仲間との交流を積み、精力的に創作に没頭する日々を送る山岳をこよなく愛する画家。

A brief summary of Tadaaki Chiba’s career

Tadaaki Chiba was born in Bunkyo Ward in Tokyo on March 18,
1942, Due to the evacuation of children from World War II he
moved into Nakanoshima (Uonuna City) in Niigata where his
grandfather lived.

Since that time mountains have had a strong impact on him, He
was initiated into painting by his grandfather Soho Imai (an artist
of Japanese-style painting who was connected with The Imperial
Household)and by his grandmother ｗho was a graduate from Joshibi
University of Art and Design. After he came back to Tokyo, he
became an artist of fusuma (Japanese sliding door) paintings.

After that, he entered the business world, but he has continued to
be active as an artist of mountain paintings. His motto is be
emotional, be thankful, make strenuous efforts, be interested, be
active and take the initiative. He likes to stay in contact with
members of his art circle, He is a real artist who deeply
appreciates ｍountains and has dedicated his life to painting them.
